About David E Marsh

David Marsh, award-winning science writer, trained initially in agriculture (Shuttleworth College, Cranfield University) and had ten years experience farming in Bedfordshire.

When he realised that only one of his nearest relations had lived beyond the age of 60 he switched from agriculture to human nutrition. During the course of interviewing over 40 medical doctors and scientists for a television series on unusual approaches towards the prevention and treatment of the non-communicable diseases, he met Michael Crawford, at that time (1981) director of Nutritional Biochemistry at the Nuffield laboratory, Zoological Society of London.

David then co-authored The Driving Force; Food in Evolution & the Future (1989) – later Nutrition and Evolution - (1995), with Professor Crawford (Inst. Brain Chemistry and Human Nutrition, Imperial College, London).

He has since written broadly for popular magazines, newsletters and academic journals (Resurgence, Positive Health, Healthy Eating, Nutrition and Health amongst other publications) about the soil, nutrition, evolution, environment and integrated medicine, including a series in the Journal of Alternative & Complementary Medicine on energy medicine.

From 2004 - 2014 David was a trustee and editor of the newsletter for the McCarrison Society for Nutrition and Health, writing editorials and articles for the newsletter and papers for the McCarrison Society’s science journal Nutrition and Health. Some of these can be found at
